Host a Free Lunch Party
It's Time For Free Food at McDonalds
McDonald's is offering Valentine's Day coupon books for $1. They come with 3 free hamburgers, 3 small ice cream cones, 3 small fries or apple dippers, and 3 apple juices or milks. They are supposed to be used by children 12 and under. The coupons are valid 2/14/2009 thru 5/15/2009. They can be found at participating restaurants. Not all places carry them.
These are great to give out with Valentine's day cards, use as party favors, or donate to treasure boxes in the classroom. I buy them to use when the kids and I are running errands and need a snack.

Are You In?
Starbucks is encouraging everyone to step up and take the Obama volunteer challenge, "Renew America Together". Pledge to donate five hours of your time throughout the year and Starbucks will give you a free Tall Coffee. Visit Starbucks, till January 25th, take the pledge, and the coffee is yours.
During President Barack Obama's inauguration, he asked every American to jump on the volunteer bandwagon. The nonprofit Hands on Network out of Atlanta has teamed up with Starbucks to help everyone find a project they are interested in volunteering in. You can use their search engine on the website, to find a project in your neighborhood.
I strongly believe all children should be encouraged to volunteer their time for projects they care about. When we lived in Gatlinburg, we had a lot of fun collecting garbage and rebuilding trails in the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Now that we are in Central Florida, we need to find some new projects. First on our agenda will be serving dinner at the Interfaith Kitchen on February 2nd. We will start out cooking our share of the meal together at home, then we will take it to the kitchen to serve with friends from the Trinity United Methodist Church. It will give us a chance to spend some time together and help others that desperately need it.
What will you do to meet the challenge? Leave me a comment telling everyone how you plan to step up.

An Old Favorite
Have you visited Catalogs.com lately? For me, it was like visiting an old friend. I used to order all types of catalogs filled with decorative trinkets, kitchen fancies, fun stuff for the kids, trendy clothes, and lots of cool stationary. I loved getting mail everyday. There was always something fun waiting. They always had some type of sale or promotional coupon to make shopping more enticing. I learned how to decorate from examining every beautiful photograph. Adorable outfits and toys for my new babies jumped out of each page. Writing to friends became a favorite pastime, so I could show off new stationary treasures. There was always a cool outfit, I had to have. I loved my catalogs.
After moving twice in the last year, many of my catalogs have stopped coming. I decided to stop by Catalogs.com and see what's new. I was pleasantly surprised. They have catalogs for everything you could possibly want and they even come with special discounts. Many are linked to websites, so we can start browsing right away.
Here are some of my favorites:
MetKids - A great collection of unique children's items. They are offering $10 off any order of $50 or more.
FAO Schwarz - Everything toys and games. If you have a little ballerina in your life, you have to check out their Tutu Couture Boutique. You can design beautiful one-of-a-kind tutus for your little dancer. They also have a Madame Alexander Doll Factory where you can design your own dolls.
Victorian Trading Company - Victorian decor, gifts, and stationary. They have beautiful Victorian calling cards. When you order 2000 calling cards, you will receive a free silver-plated card case with your order.
Gooseberry Patch - Consider themselves "A Country Store in Your Mailbox". They are offering 10% off all orders.
Colorful Images - Personalized gifts, stationary, even checks. They are offering 15% off Internet orders of $30 or more.
To receive these discounts, you need to visit the websites, through Catalogs.com. Check them out. I hope you enjoy your catalog shopping as much as I do.

2 Free Issues of ALL YOU
Have you read "All You" yet? This is a great magazine that can only be found at Wal-Mart. This month it comes with coupons totaling $19.70 that can be used in any store. I have to get the new issue every month, sometimes, 2 or 3 depending on the coupons. I am totally addicted.
Now they are offering 2 free trial issues, with a bill me option. So you don't have to use a credit card. It's definitely worth checking it out.

I'M BACK!!!
I'm Back!!! It has been a whirlwind few months. Baby Lizzy finally came September 15Th, happy and healthy. I forgot how much time a new little one takes, lots of bottles, diapers, cuddles, and kisses. The holidays were filled with lots of surprises and many, many firsts.
Now that the New Year has started, we are ready for some serious deal hunting. With Baby Lizzy blowing raspberries on my lap, we are back.
2009 will be filled with lots of great promotions, cheap deals, freebies, and coupon match-ups. I have two challenges for myself and my great readers. The first is to plan ahead and take advantage of the deals before an emergency arises and we have to pay full price. I hate having to pay full price for toilet paper because we need it and I forgot the coupons at home. We all have those last minute situations that sneak up on us.
The second challenge is to use hot deals to help others. We have all passed up deals for items we don't need like pet food or the millionth bottle of shampoo. Pick the items up and donate them to someone who really needs them. In these times, there are too many people that need help. Maybe we can put our good fortune to good use to help others and Pay It Forward.
Do you have a question or a great deal? Leave a comment. I would love to hear from ya.
